Yahoo!
is a actually a directory--a subject index. It's an attempt
to catalogue and organize the entire Web. Search on a subject
or topic. If you know exactly what subject you're searching
for, and have a good sense of how to find your subject within
a hierarchies of larger subjects, Yahoo! is the best place to
start."
If Yahoo! can't give you a hit, it automatically sends your
query to its partner Google (used to be Inktomi until the middle
of 2000) for a search through that index. The Yahoo! site includes
all sorts of other functionality, including excellent coverage
of business-related sites. Yahoo! also has chat, personal broadcast
pages, and various regional information. The Yahoo! directory
is organized by subject. Many sites are suggested by users,
then placed in categories by Yahoo! Surfers (these people visit
and evaluate your suggestions and decide where they best belong)
Yahoo! does this to ensure that they are organized in the best
possible way, thereby making the directory easy to use, intuitive,
helpful, and fair to everyone.
Please Follow These Simple Steps Below
|
 |
Step
1: Check to See if Your Site is Already in Yahoo!
If your site is already listed in Yahoo! but you want to change
its comments, title, and/or placement, please use their change form.
Step 2: Find the Appropriate Category
in Yahoo!
Find the category the best fits your site. Click on the category
link (example: Business and Economy: Companies: Internet Services:
Web Services: Promotion). Do Not submit to irrelevant
categories because you're just wasting your time and Yahoo!'s.
From Yahoo!'s home page, drill down and locate up to 2 categories
that best describe your Web site. When you scroll down and see
sites already listed that are similar to your own, your on the
right track. If you happen to find a direct competitor here
you might even take a moment to crack a smile!
If you still aren't sure where to place your site, your best
bet may be to try searching for one of your keyword phrases
that you would want your site to be found under. Categories
will be displayed with the search results.
Step 3. Suggest Your Site From the
Appropriate Category
You will see an link at the very bottom that says "Suggest
a Site." Click it and that category will automatically appear
as the category that you will add to-it's that simple.
