3. How do I use RealAudio on my Web site.

Once your RealAudio account has been requested and setup with Granite Support, you will be given access to a directory on a RealAudio server that is the same as the first part of your domain name. For example, if your domain is interland.net we would setup a directory called "interland". This may differ in the event of duplicate directories.

Use any FTP application to transfer your files to the RealAudio server. Files CANNOT be uploaded using FrontPage.
Use the server name you receive in your information e-mail, for example: realaudio3.interland.net, as the remote host address or domain name (depending on the FTP client).
Use your original username and password that Interland assigned you. Even if you have changed your password, you will need to use the original for the RealAudio server.
Once you are logged onto the RealAudio server, find the directory that was setup for your site. Transfer your RealAudio and RealMedia files to that location.

You may create subdirectories within your home directory in order to organize your RealAudio and RealMedia files.

Once your RealAudio (RA) and RealMedia (RM) files are on the RealAudio server, you will need to create a RAM file to upload to your Web server. The RAM file, when activated, points the RA and RM files on the RealAudio server. We call it the pointer file. Each RA and RM file must have a corresponding RAM file. To create a RAM file, open any text editor such as Notepad and type:

rtsp://RealAudio Server:554/your directory/filename

for example: rtsp://realaudio3.interland.net:554/interland/welcome.rm
Be sure to save the file with the .RAM extension (welcome.ram). DO NOT SAVE IT AS A TEXT (.TXT) FILE!
Upload the RAM file to your Web server, with the rest of your Web site files. This way it will point requests to the RealAudio server. Do not upload the RAM file to the RealAudio server.

Link your Web site to the RAM file the same as any other HTM or HTML file. For example:

RealAudio Sample

When the link, RealAudio Sample, is clicked on your Web site, it opens welcome.ram. The server recognizes the RAM file as a RealAudio file, and performs the necessary call to the RealAudio server.

That's it! Please refer to http://www.real.com/ for more detailed instructions.
