Interland offers Microsoft® Windows 2000® servers. This enables developers who use the Windows 95/98 and Windows 2000 environment to create applications that will be integrated into their Web site. This also enables developers to use custom components such as DLLs and COM objects to enhance the functionality of their Web site.
Perhaps one of the most popular things that Windows 2000 offers is Active Server Pages (ASP). We also support Cold Fusion on our Windows NT servers, however both applications cannot be used on the same server.
Windows 2000 uses the NTFS file permissions structure which enables custom security settings for every user, file, and directory for both Web and ftp access. We have automated the system for creating users and the modifying NTFS permissions through a user friendly "administration page" which enables customers to create dozens of users with different Web and ftp access levels.
Interland uses Internet Information Server 5.0 as the Web server for the Windows 2000 system. Interland's administration page has automated some functions of IIS so that customers can customize the server configurations within the site and take advantage of the powerful features that IIS 5.0 has to offer. - Updated: March 13, 2001
