9. How do I publish my Web site using Adobe GoLive?

1. Open Adobe GoLive.

There are a few things you can do when you want to publish, but in this tutorial we will cover the options of Importing from an existing folder or Creating a new folder.

New - If you want to create a new folder

- Click on File, New Site and go to Blank.

- A window will pop up in which you will name your site and either browse your local drive to an existing folder or have GoLive create one for you.

Existing - If you want to import from an existing folder

- Click on File, New Site and Import from Folder.

- You will see a prompt to browse to the folder you will eventually publish to your web server and also indicate the name of the home page. granitewebdesign.com servers require that your home page name be index.htm or default.htm.

2. Once you either create a new folder or import from an existing folder, the following window will pop up.

3. Go to Site and Settings.
Here you will configure FTP to transfer your files from your hard drive to your web server.

4. Choose FTP & WebDAV Server tab on the right. You want to fill in the information for FTP on the top right.

- Server - type your domain name or IP. You may need to use the IP address if the domain name has not been activated yet.

- Directory - leave blank for the root directory. If you are a Linux customer, you want to use www in this space.

- Username - type your user name.

- Password - type your password.
Port - should always be 21

5. Click OK

6. Go to Site, FTP Server, Connect

7. The left window is your local drive, the right window is your web server. Drag and drop the files.

There are many more options available in Adobe GoLive. See the software's documentation for more information on the advanced options, or visit Adobe's website at www.adobe.com. - Updated: March 1, 2002
