13. How do I publish my Web site using Macromedia Dreamweaver Ultradev?

1. From the Site drop down menu, select Define Sites.

2. Select Local Info and fill in the following:

- Site Name - A friendly method of identifying the connection.

- Local Root Folder- Directory where the files are located on your local machine.

- HTTP Address - This address enables the Link Checker to detect HTTP links that refer to your own site.

- Enable Cache - The cache maintains file and asset information in the site. This speeds up the Asset panel, link management, and Site Map features.

3. Select Remote Info. On the right you will see Access - Drop down to the connection protocol you are using. You want to use FTP.

Then fill in the appropriate fields:

- FTP Host - Enter your domain name. You may need to use the IP address if the domain name has not been activated yet.

- Host Directory - Same as root directory. You can also leave this blank.

- Login - Your administrator username.

- Password - Your administrator password.

4. Click OK.

5. Click on Site and scroll down to Connect.

6. After logging in from the "Site" window, which is used to transfer files to and from your Web site, the following will display:

- The left frame is your site's directory structure.

- The right frame is your file list. This is the frame to which you will drag and drop the files on your local system.

7. Drag and drop files by clicking on the file that you wish to transfer over to your Web site. - Updated: March 1, 2002
