How to notify customers of order status updates in CS-Cart. Print

This article describes how to notify your customers of order status updates in CS-Cart.

Order status auto-emails are configured in the CS-Cart admin area in Orders --> Order statuses. Any time an order status is auto-assigned to an order (ie: an order is successfully placed in the storefront and assigned a status of Paid), the system will check to see if that status is configured to send any auto-emails to the Customer, Orders department or the associated Suppliers (if you are using the Suppliers add-on). To configure this setting for your order statuses, please follow the steps below:

  1. Go to Orders --> Order statuses.
  2. Click on the status name or the "Edit" link for the status that you would like to update.
  3. On the "Edit status" screen, you will see a checkbox option for "Notify customer". If you would like to automatically send an order status update notification email when this order status is selected, check this checkbox, then click Save.

If you have an order set to a status where "Notify customer" is not enabled, or if you are not making an order status update, but are making changes to an order and would like to notify the customer, you email the customer the order status update email by following the steps below:

  1. Login to Admin area.
  2. Go to Orders --> View Orders.
  3. Search or browse for the desired orders.
  4. Click on the order ID or the "View" link for that order.
  5. On the Viewing order screen, make the desired changes.
  6. BEFORE clicking "Save", check the checkbox for "Notify customer". Then click "Save". An order status update notification email will be sent to the customer

Alternatively, if you are making a status update to one or more orders, and would like to notify the customer, please follow the steps below:

  1. Login to Admin area.
  2. Go to Orders --> View Orders.
  3. Search or browse for the desired orders.
  4. Click on the Status icon for each of the orders that you would like to update. You will notice that below the statuses are checkboxes for "Notify Customer", "Notify orders department" and (if Suppliers add-on is enabled) "Notify supplier". All of these are checked by default, so if you change an order status from this location, the order status update emails for the selected order will be sent automatically. Optionally, if you click on the order ID or the "View" link for an order and then on the "Viewing order" screen, click on the Status icon, you will see the same checkbox options. The functionality works the same from this location.
