How to manually enter an order for a gift certificate via the admin area in CS-Cart. Print

Gift certificate orders can be manually entered for a customer in CS-Cart as follows:

  1. Login to the CS-Cart admin area and go to Customers --> Customers.
  2. Search for the customer using their email address or name.

If a match is found and the customer already exists, perform the following additional steps (place the order acting on behalf of an existing customer):

  1. Click on the "more" button for that customer record, then select "Act on behalf of" link. A new window will open, displaying the storefront. You are now logged into the storefront as the customer.
  2. Click on the Gift Certificates link in the top right or footer navigation.
  3. Complete the "Purchase Gift Certificate" form and click Add to Cart.
  4. Proceed to checkout and complete the order.
  5. Login to the CS-Cart admin area.
  6. Go to Orders --> View Orders.
  7. Search or browse for the desired order.
  8. If not already done automatically when the order was submitted, set the order status to Paid (status = "P" if you renamed your order statuses). If the gift certificate was configured for delivery via email, a "Gift certificate has been created" auto-email will be sent to the gift certificate recipient.
  9. Click on the order ID or the "View" link for that order. In the "Product" section of the order, you will see the gift certificate listed along with the gift certificate code and a "print card" link. If the gift certificate was specified for mail delivery, you can click on the "print card" link and print the gift certificate.
  10. Next, we need to activate the gift certificate. Click on the Code link for the gift certificate. This will open the "Editing certificate" screen.
  11. On this screen, change the status to "Active", select the "Notify Customer" checkbox above the "Save" button and then click the "Save" button. If the gift certificate was specified for email delivery, a "Gift certificate has been activated" auto-email will be sent to the gift certificate recipient.

If NO match is found and the customer does not exist, perform the following steps (place the order as a new customer):

  1. Go to the storefront.
  2. Click on the Gift Certificates link in the top right or footer navigation.
  3. Complete the "Purchase Gift Certificate" form and click Add to Cart.
  4. Proceed to checkout and complete the order.
  5. Login to the CS-Cart admin area.
  6. Go to Orders --> View Orders.
  7. Search or browse for the desired order.
  8. If not already done, set the order status to Paid (status = "P" if you renamed your order statuses). If the gift certificate was configured for delivery via email, a "Gift certificate has been created" auto-email will be sent to the gift certificate recipient.
  9. Click on the order ID or the "View" link for that order.
